Basketball & Futsal Tournaments

Assalamualaikum all!

The past week had been an exciting one as we had basketball and futsal tournaments for Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 students. The sports day spirit is really building up as the four houses compete and cheer against each other - GO TEAMS GO!

GO TEAMS GO!

On Thursday 9th March 2017, the teams were up against each other for the top 3 spots for basketball and futsal. The games took place at the primary school futsal court as well as the basketball court in the morning. All students and teachers came to watch the matches, supporting their teams with colour-coded pom-poms, striking banners, and creative cheers. It was truly a sight, masyaallah!

Go Winter!

Both basketball and futsal tournaments were refereed by the school PE teachers, and coached by respective house teachers. It was evident how passionate the teachers were when they screamed and shouted supportive comments and tips to the players throughout the games. Some teachers were so excited, they feel like going inside the court and playing with the students! (sorry teachers, rules are rules so you are not allowed to do that :p)

Our ustaz cheering with the students

There was not a dull moment during the games - the players were energized and ready to win while supporters never stopped cheering. The school had the chance to witness some very talented players through the games, and so so so many players with extremely high potential.

PANAHAN-IDRISSI Inaugural Archery Challenge

Assalamualaikum all!

Idrissi School has always encouraged the students to learn archery - it is a Sunnah sport and has many benefits as well. Did you know that archery:

- Teaches importance of safety
- Improves one’s self-confidence
- Improves patience
- Provides enjoyment
- Improves focus

In conjunction with the upcoming Sports Day, we had an in-house archery competition yesterday - the PANAHAN-IDRISSI Inaugural Archery Challenge! The event was an outdoor archery challenge between the Primary after-school team, Secondary after-school team, and Eco Scout members.

The event poster - Form, Focus, Target!

Eager participants and even more eager family members gathered in the secondary school outdoor court to watch and support this event. The event started with students from the Primary after-school team, followed by the Eco Scouts team, and then the Secondary after-school team after that.

Setting up before the action begins

After a brief introduction by the archery coach from Panahan, the games begun! All students need to shoot 3 arrows each, and the best 3 from each team will be selected to the next level.

Students were evaluated by their form, level of focus, and the marks from the arrow

After every shot, marks will be counted in front of the students

Archery is a sport that requires discipline

Some of the shots are really good

Secondary school students

Mashaallah look at that double bullseye!

Once all 3 teams have shot their 3 arrows, judges chose the Top 9 archers. The Top 9 archers will be performing in an archery showcase during Sports Day, alhamdulillah!

The Top 9 archers would then have to fight for the Top 3 position. Things were getting really interesting~ To make this round more challenging, the archers had to perform 3 different stances.

The normal stance - standing up

Shooting from the back

Shooting sitting down

Nice shot there, brother!

Once all 9 archers have done their 3 stances, the archery coach announced what they have all been waiting for... who made it to Top 3?

"The Top 3 archers are..."

YAYYYYY! Congratulations to the 3 of you!

Alhamdulillah, the schools very first inaugural archery challenge went very well. Students and parents had a good time witnessing the event - and we have discovered that we have very talented archers in the school! Once again, well done students!

Thank you to everyone who have helped make the event a success. Once again, congratulations to all students and winners. Keep practicing, dear students, and may the odds be in your favour inshaa Allah!

May Allah bless our efforts and deeds.

On Your Mark...Get Set...GO!

Assalamualaikum all!

Alhamdulillah, yet another big event is coming our way very soon inshaa Allah. The students, teachers, and staff members are starting to feel the excitement now - for the Idrissi International School Sports Day 2017!

YAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!

There is much to do for everyone - we need to prepare cheers and decoration, sort out and get T-shirts, gear up for games and matches, and so much more!

And yes...it is time to get competitive, people. This is the time to show your skills and talents, your strength and wit, your ability to handle pressure and lead your team, your ability to stay focused, your ability to support your teammates, your ability to get back up when you have fallen, and most importantly - your ability to HAVE FUN!

We will have 4 sports houses for this year's event - Summer, Autumn, Winter, and Spring. Why the four seasons? We go by these beautiful words:

"The four seasons are one of the many examples of remembrance to Allah.  Changes in the weather remind us how man has no control over the seasonal weather and how Allah has control over everything."

Farm In The City

Assalamualaikum all!

On the 10th January 2017, our little pre-schoolers had the great opportunity to visit the Farm In The City - a petting zoo located in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. A total of 23 excited children went for the trip along with 7 chaperones.

The place is divided into several sections such as the Bird Aviary, Reptiles Cavern, and Fish Feeding to name a few. It is a great place for children to learn about different species of animals. The best part is that children can interact with the animals by petting, touching, and feeding them.

All aboard the bus! So excited :)

Masyallah, there was so much to learn, so many things to see. The trip was an excellent exposure for the children to nature and its wonders. It also kept the children happy and excited as they were able to learn outside of the classroom and had the chance to interact with so many animals!

A big thank you to all the chaperones for taking care of our little pre-schoolers. A big thank you also to the wonderful children - may you continue to have curiosity and the thirst to learn, inshaa Allah.

May Allah bless our efforts and deeds.
