Last Day Of the Term - Part 2

Assalammualaikum all!

First of all, apologies for the delayed blog post - even if it's the school holidays, we have much to do to prepare for the coming term! In any case, we apologize if we have kept you waiting :(

Previously, we went through the first part of the last day of the term - award-giving ceremony! Now, let's continue to what happened next on the last day of the term.

To mark the end of the students' meaningful term, the secondary school students played some games. The games were held within the school compound and were separated to two - indoor and outdoor games. The games were simple with elements of speed, team work, creativity, and a whole lot of fun! The outdoor games require running and spinning and getting themselves dizzy whereas the indoor games are more thought-provoking and creative-centric.

The girls trying as fast as they can to build a paper cup tower wearing baking mittens.

The Blindfold Game - team work is everything in this game!

The boys' turn to build towers :D

Blindfolded and solely depending on their team captain's instructions to complete the task.

The students had so much fun, masyaallah! Even the teachers had a lot of fun watching the students' hilarious behaviour and reactions while playing the games :D

After lunch and Friday prayers, it was picnic time! The students packed up their bicycles, chaperone teachers packed up food and drinks, and off they went to the Setia Alam Central Park. Everyone was excited to stretch their legs on their bikes while having yummy finger food and snacks.

Bicycles ready to be mounted on.

The girls having a pleasant time at the park.

Cycle away!

They really love cycling...

...and are always camera ready :)

Days with beautiful sunny weather should not be spent indoors!

Someone brought their homework to the park, masyaallah!

Relaxing with peers after a few rounds of cycling.

It was a spectacularly sunny day, the kids cycled and played football - it was a day well spent, alhamdulillah. What a way to end the term. We hope that the students learned a lot during the school term - not just academically, but also also through lessons beyond classrooms. In the end, what matters the most are the good deeds we do and how strong our relationship is with The Almighty.

Group photo under the magnificent sun! It ain't easy being models :D

Til we meet again next term, inshaa Allah!

May Allah bless our efforts and deeds :)

Last Day Of the Term - Part 1

Assalamualaikum all!

Mashaallah, we have come to the end of the academic term. So much memories were made during the last term - field trips, open days, the secondary school soft launch, exciting assemblies, My River TAD Talk, and so many more memorable events and activities across the pre-school, primary, and secondary schools.

Alhamdulillah, we have so much to be thankful for :)

The last day of the term was a wonderful sunny Friday. On 16th December 2016, the secondary school decided to have a relaxing day to mark the end of the semester. Instead of the usual studying and assignment of homework, the school started the morning by giving out some awards to the students!

An assembly was held at the school hall, and students were awarded based on not just their academic achievements but also behavioral and overall performance as a student.

The winners are:
Achievement in English - Arief Mohd Sharifizal
Achievement in Math - Amir Aidin Muhammad Taufik
Achievement in Science - Arief Mohd Sharifizal
Achievement in ICT - Adam Akmal bin Abdul Razak

Achievement in Student of the Term - Muhammad Danish Shah

Congratulations to all winners! Do remember that winning is not the end of the journey; if we have a positive attitude and constantly strive to give our best effort, eventually we will overcome our problems and find we are ready for greater challenges.

Of course, the last assembly of the term will not be complete without group photos!

Once the awards were given to the respective students, it was GAME TIME!!!
Stay tuned for our next post - Part 2 of Last Day of the Term.

May Allah bless our deeds and efforts, inshaa Allah :)

Thank Allah It's Friday!

Assalamualaikum all!

It is a most beneficial Friday today as our students are learning new things. While our primary school students have Eco Scouts every Friday evening, the secondary school students are having their own educational fun as well. The school is continuously looking for ways for the students to learn different things and not to be confined in classrooms all the time.

Today, our secondary school girls are sewing! Some of them have experience in sewing, some of them have never sewn before, but the girls had fun nevertheless :)

Our lovely teacher overlooking the girls - making sure nobody pricks their finger!

A student super duper focused on sewing on her buttons.

Well done, ladies! With enough practice, you might just be able to sew your own clothes some day, inshaa Allah :)

While the girls are learning how to sew, the boys are having a discussion with the academic principal on hygiene. It seemed like a serious conversation here, but the discussion was very much interactive and thought-provoking, alhamdulillah.

The principal and students discussing and exchanging thoughts on hygiene.

Masyaallah, what a wonderfully productive Friday afternoon filled with beneficial life lessons and smiles by the end of the activities. We as a school have such an enormous and important responsibility towards the students' education and well-being.

May Allah bless our efforts and deeds, inshaa Allah,

Throwback - My River TAD Talk & Exhibition

Assalammualaikum all!

Masyaallah, it has been a hectic few weeks for us here in Idrissi School. We have been busy, but we are also blessed, alhamdulillah :)

On the 3rd December 2016, we had our My River TAD Talk & Exhibition event at the secondary school. The My River TAD Talk & Exhibition, TAD being ‘Talk and Develop’, was used as a platform for the school students to express their thoughts and points of view on rivers through craft and speech by applying what they have learned and experienced from school and beyond. The event showcased students’ work as well as exhibition booths by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and Malaysia Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia).

The school aims to create awareness on the importance of rivers through students’ exhibition booths and speeches. Nine speeches and presentations from primary and secondary students rocked the event as they explained almost everything about rivers – from how rivers are formed to the current state of Malaysian rivers. A total of 16 exhibition booths were manned by the students, with booths immaculately crafted and made by recyclable materials.

Students from the school’s Earth Conservation Club also presented the Eco School Green Flag Mission Sharing. The Green Flag Award is an award given by the Eco Schools programme under World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Malaysia.

Some members of the school’s Board of Studies were also present, including the Vice President of Green Living from Malaysia Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia), YBhg Datin Paduka Che Asmah Ibrahim. The internationally-renown speaker, who also officiated the school’s event, graced the event with a humble speech on rivers, touching on global sustainable development goals and importance of rivers from an Islamic point of view.

Also present was the President of Pertubuhan Pelindung Khazanah Alam Malaysia (PEKA), YBhg Kol. Bersekutu (PA) Puan Sri To’ Puan Datuk Shariffa Sabrina binti Syed Akil. An ardent environmentalist and activist, she mesmerized the audience with an impactful speech on the forests and rivers of Malaysia and included a call for action to bring children into the forests and appreciate and take care of the environment.

Alongside exhibition booths and TAD talk, Universiti Putra Malaysia and GreenTech Malaysia showcased some exhibitions as well. While Universiti Putra Malaysia exhibited interesting collections of rain forest insects from the Faculty of Forestry students’ projects, GreenTech Malaysia displayed the Tesla Model S, an all-electric luxury car that has revolutionized the electric vehicle world.

We also had food trucks outside!

Excited teachers posing in front of the food truck.

In conjunction with the event, the school has extended its initiative towards the environment by creating an environmental plea, known as ‘My River Plea’, to be handed over to PEKA. The plea, which was eloquently written by one of the school’s Year 8 student, was given along with signatures from the school students and teachers. This initiative hopes to spark an effort of collecting environmental pleas from schools all over the country and eventually present the pleas to the Prime Minister for further action, inshaa Allah.

The event was all in all a success - the students performed their speeches and presentations extremely well. The audience were also impressed by the children, alhamdulillah. The students have worked so hard in preparing for the event, and their hard work paid off. Well done, students!

Our dear teachers have worked super duper hard as well to make this event happen. They have worked tirelessly to ensure the students were prepared with their presentations and the booths were ready on time. Bravo, dear teachers, for showing first class effort!

Our dear Principals and Ustaz's. You rock, teachers!

Our dear female teachers. Thank you, teachers!

May Allah bless our efforts and deeds, inshaa Allah.

Friday Assembly

Assalammualaikum all!

Alhamdulillah, we had another exciting Friday assembly earlier today at Idrissi Primary School. As per any assembly, students gathered around in the school hall called the Lemon Tree Area and were required to sit facing the stage area. Challenge: all students were to enter the hall quietly and in orderly fashion.

Challenge accepted!

Friday assemblies are extra exciting as there are performances in stored for the students. Previously, performances include cooking demonstration, public speaking, and even a simple science experiment. This time, Year 1 students prepared a wonderful sketch of the story Chicken Little. The students came to the assembly well-prepared with props and masks to aid their sketch.

When it was time to perform, they confidently took their places on stage and waited anxiously for the fellow narrator to start. One, two, three, go!

Masyaallah, their preparation and hard work paid off. The audience loved it, bravo! Once the Year 1 students executed their sketch, it was questions time; students who paid attention to the sketch and answered the questions correctly will be awarded.

Look at all the students eager to answer - such enthusiasm!

Til next Friday assembly! May Allah bless all our efforts and deeds, inshaa Allah.

Idrissi Secondary Soft Launch

Assalammualaikum & hello!

As you may already know, the Idrissi School family is growing, and we are super excited! We already have Idrissi Secondary running since September this year, and classes have been a blast. On Friday 14th October 2016, the Idrissi Secondary School had its Soft Launch in Setia Alam.

The evening started at 7:45PM with the arrival of guests and parents at the school. The school's Hangout Hall had a pleasant environment, with one corner of the hall decorated with easels carrying information on the school, and another section of the hall filled with delicious food and desserts.

Existing students helped out with the event as they ushered guests and handled the food section. An excellent opportunity for them to practice their management and people skills :)

As guests and parents settled down, speeches were given by our key personnel: our beloved founders and directors Puan Zaliza and Encik Hafiez Shah, and the Academic Principal Hameed.

A warm welcome was given by Puan Zaliza to fellow guests and parents. She then briefly explained the idea and concept behind the school, which is a place to acquire skills and knowledge not just from academic lessons in classrooms but also through practical hands-on experience.

Encik Hafiez Shah briefly went through the school's architecture and facilities, emphasizing on the sustainable materials and crafty features used for the school building. The school will also have a multipurpose court outside and even labs made out of storage containers. Talk about recycling at its best!

Alhamdulillah, it was an eventful and informative evening for all. There was a question & answer session towards the end of the speeches and everyone obtained some very meaningful knowledge and information that evening. The evening ended with the guests and parents touring the classrooms, library, and computer lab upstairs.

Thanks to everyone involved in making this event a success! Your hard work and dedication definitely paid off :) May Allah bless our efforts and deeds, inshaa Allah.
